FDA CLEARS MEDIPHYSICS PAIN TREATMENT SYSTEM FOR USE IN TREATMENT OF PAIN

Drug free, surgery free option for 100 million Americans with chronic pain

Lake Forest, CA - June 1, 2004 - MediPhysics Pain Centers of America, Inc. (MediPhysics) has announced that its patented pain management device, the MediPhysics Pain Treatment System (MPTS) has been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of acute and chronic pain. Chronic pain has reached near epidemic proportions in the U.S. with over 57% of the total U.S. adult population (100 million people) suffering from some type of chronic or recurring pain.

The treatment of chronic pain has become one of U.S. healthcare's most immediate challenges. Drug free, non-invasive devices such as the MPTS are seen to represent a new wave of medical options, providing physicians additional tools, aside from traditional the "pain pills or surgery approach," in the fight against the pain epidemic that has touched 43% of American households.

Prior to FDA clearance, the MPTS has been used on an experimental basis with professional sports teams as well as by elite and Olympic athletes in the U.S. and abroad.

Initially, the MPTS will be placed in a limited number of pain clinics and hospitals throughout the U.S., but will be available to both large clinics and hospitals throughout the U.S. by 2006. According to MediPhysics President, Larry Steudle, "We expect to have 30 MPTS devices in pain clinics by the end of 2005 with 170 in place by the end of 2006. To provide the highest standards of care, the MPTS will only be used under the direct supervision of a physician."
