MEDIPHYSICS AND SOURCE SCIENTIFIC FORM STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP
Medical device manufacturer signs strategic agreement to manufacture MediPhysics' pain treatment technologies
Lake Forest, CA - February 20, 2005 - MediPhysics Pain Centers of America, Inc. (MediPhysics) has entered into an agreement with Source Scientific, a leading Southern California medical device manufacturer. Under the terms of the agreement, Source Scientific will manufacture the proprietary MediPhysics Pain Treatment System (MPTS). As the contract manufacturer, Source Scientific will not only manufacture the machine to the recently mandated ISO13485:2003 quality standards, but will also lend its considerable R&D, engineering and design resources to MediPhysics' ongoing development of biomedical technologies.
Source Scientific has built its reputation on being the designer, developer and contract manufacturer, for such noted medical companies as Abbot Labs, Hitachi, Hybratech, and Baxter. According to Dan Schumann, Vice President of Product Development and Manufacturing for MediPhysics, "Source Scientific has twenty years of producing medical equipment to the highest standards and a top-notch team of engineers and designers. We are fortunate to have them as our partners in this critical area of our business."
Chronic pain has reached epidemic portions worldwide and is perceived by both the United States Surgeon General and Congress as one of America's most immediate healthcare challenges. The MediPhysics Pain Treatment System (MPTS) is a non-invasive, drug-free, proprietary device that treats acute, chronic and post surgical pain. The MPTS provides physicians with an additional and dynamic tool in the fight against pain and an option beyond the traditional pharmaceutical and surgical approaches. The MPTS received FDA clearance in 2004 and MediPhysics expects to begin production in late 2005.
MediPhysics is a privately held medical technology company based in Lake Forest, CA that is committed to the future of medical physics and to the development of proprietary medical technologies to be used in the treatment of acute, chronic pain and post-surgical pain.
